| 1 lb. | Ground beef or turkey |
| 1-2 t. | Chili powder or to taste |
| 2 t. | Cumin powder |
| | Salt and pepper to taste |
| 1 32-oz. | Can crushed tomatoes |
| 1 16-oz. | Can kidney beans, drained |
| 1 16-oz. | Can black eyed peas with jalapenos, drained |
| 1 4-oz. | Can tomato paste |
Break up and brown ground beef in large saucepan. Sprinkle with salt, pepper, chili powder and cumin. Cook over low heat 15 minutes to tenderize meat. Add canned tomatoes, beans, peas, and tomato paste. Stir to mix, bring to boil, then turn to simmer until heated through. Taste and adjust seasonings if needed.
Serve with shredded cheese, crackers, oyster crackers, sliced cheese, sour cream, chopped jalapenos and/or onions if desired.
