Sweet Cheese Dumplings

A wonderfully unique comfort food. These beautiful dumplings are rich and surprising. Also very easy to make! Experiment with the seasoning for a satifying variety of serving options.

Ingredients

DUMPLINGS:

1 cup Flour

1 t Sugar

4 t Butter (room temperature)

1/2 lb Grated cheddar cheese (room temperature)

1 Egg lightly beaten

SEASONING MIXTURE:

1/3 cup Sugar

1 t Ground cinnamon

1 t Finely chopped walnuts

Preparation


1) Mix all ingredients well and allow to stand at room temperature for 25 minutes.

2) Boil water in a large pot. Form batter into 8 equal balls and drop carefully into the rolling water.

3) Boil slowly for 10 minutes. Remove the dumplings from water. Gently roll in a warm buttered bowl.

4)Combine Seasoning Mixture in a small bowl. Carefully roll one dumpling at a time in the seasoning and serve immediatly.

Cook's Notes

VARIATIONS: Leave off the Seasoning Mixture and top with one of the following:

* Alfredo Sauce
* Hollandaise
* Mushroom Sauce
* Gravy

NOTE: Spicy Peppers can be chopped up and added to the dumplings.
