1. Cook lasagna noodles as directed on package
2. Meanwile, in large saucepan combine ground beef, sausage and onions and cook over medium heat untill beef and sausage are thoroughly cooked. Drain. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, sugar, garlic powder, and salt. Mix well and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 to 45 minutes stirring occasionally.
3. In medium bowl, combine ricotta cheese, cottage cheese, 2 eggs (beaten), and parmesan cheese. Blend well.
4. Heat oven to 350 F. Spread about 1/2 cup meat sauce over bottom of ungreased 13x9-inch (3-quart) baking dish. Top with 3 noodles, half of the cheese mixture, half of the remaining meat sauce and half of the mozzarella cheese. repeat layers, ending with mozzarella cheese.
5. Bake at 350 F. for 35 to 45 minutes or until bubbly. Cover; let stand 10 to 15 minutes before serving.
