This hearty slow-cooked dish is easy to prepare and the wait is definitely worth it.

Ingredients

2 pounds Lean ground beef

2 cans Beans (any kind, such as pinto or kidney)

1 Onion, chopped

1 Bay leaf

1 tb. Chili powder

1 Large can diced tomatoes

Salt

Pepper

1/2 cup Grated Cheddar cheese

Sour cream

Preparation

Brown beef, pour off fat. Saute onions. Add beef, onions, bay leaf, chili powder, beans (rinsed and drained), and tomatoes (including juice) to crock-pot. Cook on low for 4 to 8 hours.

Taste and add salt and pepper, if needed. Ladle into bowls and pass grated cheese and sour cream for toppings.

Cook's Notes

Cornbread is a traditional, and delicious, side dish for chili. Add a green salad or celery and carrot sticks to round out the meal.

This recipe is a winner. Easy to make and the whole family likes it. My husband likes it since it is not too hot or spicy.
