Indian-Spiced Chicken Pitas

Ingredients

1 lb. Boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 1/2 tsp. Garam masala, divided
3/4 tsp Salt, divided
1 c. Thinly sliced seeded cucumber
3/4 c. Nonfat plain yogurt
1 tbsp. Chopped fresh cilantro or mint
2 tsp. Lemon juice
Freshly ground pepper to taste
4 6-in. whole-wheat pitas, warmed
1 c. Shredded romaine lettuce
2 Sm. or 1 lg. tomato, sliced
1/4 c. Thinly sliced red onion

Preparation

1. Preheat grill to med-high, or position rack in upper third of oven and preheat broiler. If grilling, oil grill rack. If broiling, coat a broiler pan with cooking spray.

2. Sprinkle chicken with 1 tsp. garam masala and 1/2 tsp. salt. Place chicken on grill or prepared pan and cook until no longer pink in center. Transfer chicken to cutting board and let rest 5 min.

3. Meanwhile, combine cucumber, yogurt, cilantro (or mint), lemon juice, remaining 1/2 tsp. garam masala and 1/4 tsp. salt and pepper in small bowl. Thinly slice chicken. Split open warm pitas and fill with chicken, yogurt sauce, lettuce, tomato and onion.
