| 2 1/4 cups | Flour |
| 1/2 tsp | Each salt and ground cinnamon |
| 1 cup | Firmly packed brown sugar |
| 3/4 cup | Granulated sugar |
| 3/4 cup | Salad oil |
| 1/2 cup | Coarsely chopped walnuts |
| 1 1/4 tsp | Ground cinnamon |
| 1 tsp | Baking soda |
| 1 tsp | Baking powder |
| 1 | Egg |
| 1 cup | Buttermilk |
In a medium bowl, mix flour, salt, 1/2 tsp cinnamon, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and salad oil. Beat with an electric mixer on medium spped until well blended. Remove 3/4 cup of this mixture for the topping and blend into it nuts and the 1 1/4 tsps cinnamon; set aside.
To the remaining mixture, add soda, baking powder, egg, and buttermilk; blend until smooth. Pour mixture into a greased 9 by 13" baking pan; smooth the top with the back of a spoon. Evenly spoon the reserved topping over batter and lightly pressit in with the back of a spoon. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 25 to 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cut into squares.
