| 1/2 cup | Half & half |
| 1 tsp | Dark brown sugar |
| 1/2 tsp | Almond extract |
| 1/2 tsp | Nutmeg |
| 6 | 1-inch thick slices French bread |
| 2 tbsp | Butter (or more) |
| 1/4 cup | Sliced toasted almonds |
| | Powdered sugar |
| | Maple syrup |
Beat eggs and half & half in small bowl. Mix in brown sugar, almond extract and nutmeg. Pour into large shallow dish. Soak bread in egg mixture 5 minutes, turning at least once. Melt 2 Tbsp butter in very large skillet over medium-low heat. Add bread and cook until golden, adding more butter if necessary, 3-4 minutes on each side. Sprinkle with nuts and sugar. Serve with syrup.
