Ingredients
6 to 7 c. Flour, divided
1/4 c. Sugar
1 t. Salt
1 pkg. Yeast
1/2 c. Lukewarm water
2 c. Milk
1/2 c. Cream
1 c. Butter or shortening, softened
Preparation
Warm milk, cream, and shortening (on stove or in microwave).
Combine 2 c. flour, sugar, salt, yeast, and lukewarm water in large mixing bowl.
Stir in warmed milk/shortening mixture.
Add enough flour to make a smooth, soft dough.
Knead well, cover and let rise until double in bulk.
Form into zwiebacks; let rise until double in size.
Bake 350° for about 15 to 20 minutes.
