Easy Cheesy Sausage Puffs

These are great make-ahead appetizers. Freeze them to pull out when unexpected company drops by.

Ingredients

1 pound Italian sausage
1 pound Sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
3 cups Bisquick
3/4 cup Water

Preparation

Remove sausage from casing; cook, breaking up the meat until no longer pink; drain off fat and place in large bowl. Cool completely.

Add cheese, Bisquick and water; mix just until blended.

Roll into 1" balls; place on cookie sheet 2" apart.

Bake at 400° for 12 to 15 minutes or until puffed and brown.

To freeze: freeze single layer on cookie sheets. Place in plastic bags when frozen.

To reheat: Arrange in single layer on cookie sheets. Bake at 375° for 10 minutes.

Adjust the recipe by using sweet or hot italian sausage; mild or sharp cheddar; or a mixture.
