Regular and ultimate Nachos

Create your favorite nachos that stay crisp to the very last bite!

Ingredients

For ultimate nachos, cook up taco meat as a topping:

1 lb Ground meat (beef, pork, or turkey)

1 tsp. Salt,1/4 tsp. pepper, 1/2 tsp. garlic powder

1 package Taco seasoning + ½ c. water

For regular nachos, omit meat

1-2 cups Shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Bag of tortilla chips

Shredded lettuce

Sour cream

(optional)

Olives, refried beans, jalapeno peppers, salsa or drained Rotelle tomatoes

Preparation

Pre-heat broiler

1) Brown ground beef with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

2) Add taco seasoning and water . Simmer until thickened.

3) On a large baking sheet, lay out a single layer of tortilla chips.

4) Top with cheddar cheese. The amount of cheese used is determined by how many nachos you are making.

5) Broil 3-5 minutes until cheese is bubbly and browned (watch carefully to prevent burning)

6) Remove from oven

7) Serve up individually, putting on topping favorites as you go.

Cook's Notes

Make-ahead hint: Pre-cook seasoned ground meat in large batches and freeze 2 cups/1 quart bag. Thaw in microwave and proceed with recipe.
