Position baking rack in upper thrid of the oven and heat to 325. Lightly coat baking sheet with cooking spray or line with parchment.
Blend almond meal, figs, orange zest, vanilla nad salt in a food processor until mixture resembles coarse meal and has the texture of wet sand, about 1 min. Form dough into 30 (2 tsp) slightly flattened balls and place on baking sheet 1/2 in. apart. (Cookies will not spread during baking.)
Bake until bottoms of cookies are lightly browned, 12-15 min., turning pan once halfway through. Cool and serve.
