Bread Machine Pita Bread

There is nothing like warm pita's and by using your bread machine there is little mess to clean and a lot less dough making work.

Ingredients

1 1/4 cups Water

1 Egg

3 3/4 cups Flour

2 tsp. Sugar

1 1/2 tsp. Salt

2 tbsp. Shortening

1/2 cup Powdered milk

1 1/2 tsp. Yeast

Preparation

- Put all ingredients into the bread machine in the order listed. When adding yeast make a small well in center of ingredients and add yeast.

- Use dough cycle to make the pita dough.

- Let rest 10-15 mins. Heat oven to 450 degrees.

- Cut dough into 12 equal pieces and form into 12 balls.

- Roll each into 7 inch circles, 1/8 inch thick.

- Bake 3-5 minutes at 450 degrees on a cookie sheet.

- Take out of oven and wrap in a clean tea towel.

Serve warm.

Cook's Notes

If you find they are too thick roll them out more.
