Cook macaroni and set aside. Put lentils in a stockpot with the 6 cucps of water bring to a boil, then turn down to a simmer. Saute onions in olive oil in medium saucepan and add all other ingredients to the onions then cook for ten minutes on medium heat. Then add this mixture to the lentils. Simmer altogether with lid on crooked for 2 - 3 hours.
Best if served with a crusty bread and butter.
