A touch of vinegar adds just enough acidity to balance summer-sweet strawberries.
1/2 pint Strawberries, hulled and sliced
1 1/2 teaspoons Sugar, or to taste
1-1 1/2 teaspoons Balsamic or red-wine vinegar
1. Place strawberries in a bowl and toss with sugar to taste. Sprinkle with vinegar to taste. Let stand for 20 minutes before serving.
