Chai Walnut Shake

Chai tea is a black tea blended with spices that can include cardamom, cloves, coriander and ginger. It is typically blended with milk and sugar to create a sweet, spiced warm beverage. This shake combines tea, walnuts and ice cream to create a creamy, sweet, spiced milk shake.

Ingredients

1 Spiced chai tea bag
½ cup Boiling water
½ cup California Walnuts
3-4 Ice cubes
1 ½ cups Light vanilla ice cream
Dash each of ground cinnamon and cloves OR a dash of pumpkin pie spice
2 tablespoons Whipped cream, for garnish
1 tablespoon Chopped California Walnuts, for garnish

Preparation

Place tea bag in boiling water and let steep 5 minutes. Remove tea bag.

Combine tea, 1/2 cup walnuts and ice cubes in a blender. Cover and blend 1-2 minutes until walnuts are very finely chopped and mixture is thick.

Add ice cream and spices; blend for 1-2 minutes until mixture is combined, scraping sides of blender if needed.

Pour into two glasses and top each with whipped cream and 1/2 tablespoon of walnuts.
