Ingredients

4 cups Flour
2 cups Multi-grain flour
1/4 cup Baking powder
2 tsp Salt
2 cups Shortening
1/2 cup Lowfat powdered milk
1/4 cup Sugar
1 tbsp Vegetable seasoning
Water
2 cups Various sandwich meats
2 cups Grated medium cheese

Preparation

Preheat oven to 400 F. In large bowl with fork, mix all ingredients except shortening and water. With pastry blender, cut shortening into flour mixture to resemble course crumbs. Stir in 1 1/2 water until moistened (if too dry, add 1/4 to 1/2 cups more water. Add cheese and sandwich meat. Turn dough onto floured surface, with floured hands, knead 8 to 10 times until smooth. With floured rolling pin, roll dough 3/4 inch thick. With floured 1 1/2 inch cookie cutter, cut biscuits. Place on baking sheet 1 inch apart. Press trimmings together, re-roll and cut. Bake 20 to 25 minutes.

To prepare up to 3 months ahead:

Prepare biscuits as above but do not cook. Place on cookie sheet, freeze. Place in freeze bags. Bake frozen biscuits in preheated 400 F oven for 30 - 35 minutes.
