Saute onion in canola oil and 3 tb. of water for 10 min.
Add chili powder and cinnamon, cook for 1 min.
Stirr in beans, tomatoes and their juice, tomato paste, sugar, 1/4 tsp. salt, and 1/2 c. water.
Heat to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 min.
