| 1 can | Black beans |
| 1 quart | Chicken broth |
| 1 can | Chunk chicken breast packed in water |
| 1/4 tsp | Cumin |
| 3/4 cup | Salsa (or to taste) |
| | Cilantro, chopped |
| | Shredded cheese (cheddar, monterey jack, etc. |
| 1 can | Refried beans (optional) |
Empty beans, broth, chicken, cumin and salsa in saucepan and heat, stirring to combine flavors. Add refried beans if you like a thicker soup.
Serve with chopped cilantro and shredded cheese. Enjoy!
Original recipe (Amalie's) did not call for cumin or refried beans. We enjoy it either way. Sometimes I'll make it without the refried beans, and then stretch it the next day by adding a can of beans.
