I make this as a main course but you could certainly serve as a side dish. It is very easy to prepare and so delicious! The condiments and seasonings give it such a good flavor. It is one of our very favorites!!
1 pound Ground chuck
1/2 cup Chopped onion
1 tsp Oregano
2 tbsp Brown sugar
1/2 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Pepper
1/2 cup Ketchup
2 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
2 tbsp Vinegar
1/4 tsp Tabasco sauce
1 can Pork and beans
Brown ground chuck with onion; drain. Add spices, ketchup, brown sugar, worcestershire, tabasco and then beans. Mix all together well and put in a greased 1 1/2 qt casserole dish.
Bake 25 mins at 300 degrees ( or until hot and bubbly)
Sometimes I use Bush's original baked beans in place of the pork and beans and then you would need to cut back on the brown sugar as the beans are already sweet. Children seem to love this dish too. I like to serve boiled potatoes, mashed or even baked sweet potatoes with this and a green veggie. Double or triple the recipe for a crowd.
