Preparation
Cook beans on stove per pkg recipe, or in crock pot 8hrs on low. Fry bacon until crisp, crumble. Boil cabbage w/bacon drippings (approx 2tbs) & salt/pepper to taste, until tender.
Prepare CornBread per box instructions or from scratch.
Serve all of this in separate bowls or dishes and let everyone put together there own plate. I prefer starting with a slice of cornbread(buttered), top with portion of pinto beans, add helping of cabbage, sprinkle bacon bits, then top with tomatoes and onions. After assembled in a pile, mix all together and add a squirt of vinegar and/or a bit of hot sauce.
