Grandma's Chocolate Syrup

Contributed By: edaemyma

My family has poured this yummy chocolate syrup on waffles and pancakes for generations. Ice cream and milkshakes would be a more traditional way to enjoy this recipe.

Ingredients

1-1/2 c Water

3 c Sugar

3 tbsp Cocoa

1 tsp Vanilla

1/2 c Light karo or corn syrup

Dash salt

Preparation

1. Put water into 3 qt. sauce pan. Add sugar, cocoa, karo and salt. Boil rapidly, stirring occasionally.

2. Watch closely! The amount doubles in size at rolling boil.

3. Add vanilla to syrup after removing pan from heat.
