Blue Cheese Cranberry Crumble

Adapted from another recipie I really love

The Texas Ties Cookbook has a wonderful recipie for Blue Cheese Crumble that is savory made with crumbled blue cheese, purple onion, parsley and a few other ingredients. I thought how good it would be to have a sweet version of a blue cheese crumble to enjoy with wine.

Ingredients

8 oz Blue cheese crumbled
2 cups Dried cranberries
1/4 tsp Fresh orange zest(optional)
1/2 cup Chopped pecans
1 or 2 tablespoons Orange flavored olive oil

Preparation

Crumble up blue cheese.

Coarsely chop pecans.

Mix the dried cranberries with the crumbled blue cheese, orange zest and chopped pecans. Drizzle 1 to 2 tablespoons of orange flavored olive oil over the mixture and toss gently. Serve with table water crackers. They are very bland and unsalted and will let the fruit and cheese flavors blossom in your mouth.

Cook's Notes

Using blocks of blue cheese instead of already prepackaged blue cheese crumbles will make it easier to control the size of the crumbles. Not to large, not to small. You can also use different dried fruits and your favorite nuts. Sometimes I use pistachios. The green nuts with the red cranberries is very pretty. You can find the orange flavored olive oil at Williams-Sonoma.
