Traditional Deviled Eggs

Contributed By: LindaG
Betty Crocker, 1975, adapted

Ingredients

6 Hard boiled eggs

3 tablespoons Mayonnaise

1/8 teaspoon Salt

1/2 teaspoon Dry mustard

1/8 teaspoon Pepper

1 teaspoon Horseradish, optional

Paprika, optional

Preparation

Cut peeled, hard-boiled eggs in half. Slip out yolks into a bowl and mash with a fork. Mix yolks, seasonings and mayo [horseradish is optional.] Fill the whites with egg yolk mixture, heaping it up lightly. Optional to sprinkle with Paprika [ a retro/ 50's touch].

Cook's Notes

The origional Betty Crocker recipe calls for 1/2 tsp of salt, and 1/2 tsp of pepper. In stead of listing mayo it says: salad dressing, vinegar, or light 20% cream. It does not list Paprika -- that was Grandma's touch. If you need to hold deviled eggs for a while, pach two filled halves together; wrap in plastic wrap with yolk sides facing each other. Keep chilled for a picnic.
