High blood pressure affects more than 65 million American adults (U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services). Food that you choose to eat affects your chances of developing high blood pressure, or hypertension. Studies show that blood pressure can be lowered by following the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension, or better known as the DASH dietary pattern, and by eating less salt. The practice of changing your diet to include more fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy and reducing your sodium intake will set you on the right path to lowering your blood pressure!
