Thanksgiving leftovers are often as anticipated as the feast itself. To make sure your family Eats Better, Eats Together, the food safety experts at the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) recommend gobbling up leftover turkey and trimmings within four days of Thanksgiving or freezing the rest for later.

When faced with a mountain of leftover mashed potatoes, Estela Schnelle, MS, RD, registered dietitian and author of WeeklyBite.com recommends adding broth, a bit of bacon, milk and cheese to make Creamy Potato Soup. Nancy Grossi, mother of two and author of TheWifeofaDairyman.com uses up leftover turkey by adding apples, walnuts, grapes and more to make a refreshing Turkey Waldorf Salad.

Enjoy other Thanksgiving leftovers safely with a family meal of Shredded Turkey and Pinto Bean Burritos, Good for you Pumpkin Rice and Cranberry Dessert Sauce over frozen yogurt or baked apples. Freeze other leftovers and enjoy Turkey Veggie and Cheese Pitas and Healthy Turkey Reubens later in the week.
