As children and families across the country head back to school, researchers from the University of Minnesota recommend starting the day with a protein and fiber-rich breakfast in order to feel full and stay alert throughout the day.
Many breakfast staples, like eggs, lean meats and low-fat dairy products like milk and yogurt are packed with protein. Fruits, vegetables, whole grain cereal and whole-wheat bread or English muffins offer fiber to help keep you feeling full.
To help start the day- and the school year- right, we’ve put together protein and fiber-packed breakfast recipes the whole family will enjoy! Start with Strawberry Breakfast Sandwiches made with whole-grain muffins, Tomato Eggs and finish the meal with Super Orange Smoothies. Keep the energy going all week long with Secretly Delicious Spinach Pie, Cherry Vanilla Oatmeal, Oat Bran Muffins and Mango and Melon Salad with Strawberry Sauce.
