With many kids home for summer vacation, families need to make sure to stock up on healthy foods for summer snacking. Whether in between meals on their own or served in combination for a fun family meal, these snack recipes will help your family stay healthy this summer.
Since getting kids involved in the kitchen starts them on a path to lifelong healthy habits, we’ve made sure the recipes this week were selected with kids cooking in mind. For more on getting kids involved in the kitchen, read our recent blog posting at MealsMatter.org “Hey Kids, Let’s Cook!”
No matter who does the cooking, everyone will enjoy a snack-tastic family meal of Cottage Cheese Vegetable Dip, Potato Skins and Frozen Chocolate Peanut Butter-Banana Pops. Other kid-friendly snack recipes to enjoy all week long include Vegetable Pizza, Low Fat Cha-Cha Chalupas, Apple Bagel Sandwich and Turkey Veggie and Cheese Pita.
Be sure to follow @MealsMatter on Twitter and register at MealsMatter.org to add these and other recipes to a personalized family meal plan and shopping list.
“Family Meals Matter” features recipes selected by registered dietitians from the thousands of user-contributed recipes available at the free family nutrition and meal-planning website, Meals Matter, operated by registered dietitians and moms with Dairy Council of California.
