Summer is in full swing! If you’re like most cooks, the hotter it is outside, the less time you want to spend in the kitchen. This week, beat the heat by reserving your oven or stove for breakfast, before the mercury rises.
Start the day with a hearty breakfast of Banana Walnut Pancakes with Fresh Fruit Medley, Fruit Soup and Hazelnut Café Au Lait, then rely on salads and sandwiches for lunch or dinner. Other hot breakfast ideas that can help keep you cool week include Ham and Cheese Omelet Rolls, Mango and Melon Salad with Strawberry Sauce, Apple Carrot Muffins and Rise and Shine Yogurt Shakes.
Be sure to follow @MealsMatter on Twitter and register at MealsMatter.org to add these and other recipes to a personalized family meal plan and shopping list.
“Family Meals Matter” features recipes selected by registered dietitians from the thousands of user-contributed recipes available at the free family nutrition and meal-planning website, Meals Matter, operated by registered dietitians and moms with Dairy Council of California.
