Eat, Play, Love: Raising Healthy Eaters is a blog series by parents and dietitians whose stories and advice reminds us that we can overcome the challenges of feeding children. Subscribe to find ways to build lifelong healthy eating habits for your children.
According to a survey conducted by Maryann Tomovich Jacobsen, MS, RD, for her website and blog Raising Healthy Eaters, lack of time is one of the biggest barriers to family meals at home. If you find yourself struggling to put healthy meals on the table in a limited amount of time, then this column is for you.
At the end of the day, you want to spend more time together enjoying the meal than you spend preparing it. Family meals don’t have to be time consuming to benefit kids and parents alike. We’ve selected some of our favorite kid-friendly, nutritious recipes that can go from basic ingredients to family fare in about 30 minutes or less.
Start with a family favorite, No Bake Macaroni and Cheese and pair it with Orange Glazed Carrots and Mango and Melon Salad with Strawberry Sauce for a fast, friendly family meal. Other fast family favorites to try this week include America's Favorite Grilled Cheese Lunch, Snappy Peas and Mushroom, Peanut Butter S'more Bars and Easy Chicken Enchiladas.
