Eating locally-grown, seasonal food has become very popular in recent years. As a general rule, locally-grown, in-season produce costs less and often tastes fresher than other produce that might have been transported long distances. As the leaves start to turn, enjoy fresh fall flavors of root vegetables, pears and apples this week.
Start with a family meal of Sweet and Tangy Yam and California Raisin Salad, Parmesan Flounder Fillets and Roasted Pears with Cheddar Crumble. Throughout the week, add more fall flavor to your table with other recipes like Aged Cheddar with Apple Wedges and Cider Reduction, Roasted Root Vegetables with Apple Juice, Pear and Parsnip Soup and a delicious Autumn Salad.
