For years, inventive cooks have developed alternative versions of favorite recipes to save time or substitute key ingredients. For instance, Mock Apple Pie features crackers and seasonings, but no fruit.
This week we’re celebrating culinary mimicry with a family meal of Mock Risotto, Grilled Rosemary Chicken with Tomato-Basil Salsa and Soda Sangria. The theme continues with our other featured recipes and is a great reminder that you can create delicious versions of popular recipes by substituting ingredients.
Whether the ingredients make the recipe faster to prepare or are simply things that appeal to your personal tastes, substitutions allow you more flexibility in the kitchen.
Be sure to add these and other recipes to your Meal Planner and Shopping List.
